Garner Volunteer Fire Rescue, Inc. is a combination department serving over 50,000 people in the Town of Garner and Wake County area totaling 53 square miles of district.  We operate out of 4 stations.  Each station is staffed 24 hours a day.  Our department protects lives, property, and environment through highly trained firefighters with state of the art equipment. 
Services include:
• Fire Suppression
• First Responder Medical service as EMT-B
• Technical Rescue
• Fire Prevention and Education

1/21/2012(B-Shift)
Engine 1,3,4 R-1, Battalion 1, Car 1, Battalion 2, and Raleigh E-13 responded to a working house fire on Montague St.



1/20/2012(A-Shift)

Garner Engine 1, 2, 3, 4, Rescue 1, Ladder 1, and Battalion 1 participate in multi-company aerial operations training at Centennial Park.




1/15/2012(C-Shift)

Engine 4, Battalion 1, and Wake County Sheriffs Office responded to a fully involved vehicle fire on Ballot Rd. Crews were able to quickly contain the fire.


 


1/13/2012 (C-Shift)
Garner Engine 3 responded to a vehicle fire on US 70. The fire was contained to the engine compartment.

Garner Engine 3 participated in the "Dreams Come True Day" at Vandora Springs Elementary School's YMCA program. Around 20 children participated and a great time was had by all.




1/7/2012(A shift)

Garner Engine 2 responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a motor cycle at the intersection of Benson Road and Woodbrook Way. One patient was treated and taken to the hospital.
 

 


1/3/2012(B-Shift)

Engine 3, 5, 2, R-2, T-12, Fairview E-3, T-6, T-7, and Wake County EMS responded to a working residential structure fire on Poplar Springs Rd. Engine 3 made initial attack with Engine 5 crew ventilating. Fire was knocked down quickly. 









1/1/2012(B-Shift)

Engine 2, 3, 9, R-2, T-12, Car 1, 2, Batt. 1, 2, Fuquay E-3,T-2, Fairview T-6, T-7, 50-210 E-1, E-3, and Wake County EMS responded to a barn fire endangering another structure on Rock Service Station Rd. 600' of 5" was laid down the driveway with E-2 supplying Garner E-3 and Fuquay E-3. Water supply was established with a tanker shuttle from a hydrant at Rock Service Station Rd. and Hwy 42.






12/27/2011(B-Shift)

Engine 2, Rescue 2, and Battalion 1, and Wake EMS 16 responded to a single vehicle mvc overturned subject trapped on Hwy 42. Subject was extricated and had no injuries.




12/21/2011(C-Shift)
Garner Fire Rescue and Eastern Wake Fire Department responded to an overturned vehicle accident at the intersection of Auburn Knightdale and Rock Quarry Rd. Engine 4 arrived first and found one subject to be trapped inside the vehicle. Units stabalized the vehicle, cut the roof, and removed the victim. The victim was transported to the hospital and crews cleared the scene shortly after.







12/14/2011 (B-Shift)
Working fire confined to one unit in an apartment complex. Garner E-3, E-1, L-1, R-1, Batt.1, Batt.2, Car 1, Raleigh E-2, Wake County EMS handled the call.

 


12/3/2011 (C-Shift)
Working apartment fire in Bryan Woods Apartments. Heavy fire showing on 1st and 2nd floor on arrival, reports of victims trapped on both floors, additional units called after reporting the working fire. Units on scene include: Garner E-1, E-2, E-3, E-4, R-1, L-1, Batt. 1, Batt. 2, Car 7, and Car 2. Raleigh E-10, L-4, Batt. 2, Car 10. Fairview E-3, Car 1, Car 2. Wake County EMS 19, 16, D-1, T-1. After a multi- company meal with our neighbors, Garner E-1, E-3, E-4, E-2, R-1, Battalion 1 and Raleigh E-10 and Ladder 8 enjoyed a some mutual aid training on new water supply procedures and the Oasis Valve. 





11/29/2011 (C-Shift)

Garner Fire and Rescue along with Garner High School Athletics participated in joint training. Crews trained on care for injured football players, utilizing the GFR's UTV. Garner Fire and Rescue provides medical standby during all of Garner High School's football games. Also, we would like to congratulate the Trojans on a successful season and wish them best of luck in the state championship game this Saturday.

Garner Car 1, Battalion 1, 2, Engine 2, 3, Rescue 2 and Fairview units responded to a residential structure fire at the intersection of Old Stage and Ten Ten roads.

Garner Fire-Rescue played host to the first annual GFR softball tournament. Public Safety teams from all over the area competed.  Garner Fire-Rescue finished undefeated on the day, beating Nash County Fire-Rescue in the championship game 19-4. Garner Fire-Rescue's Brian Pope won the Home Run Derby.

Engine 4, Rescue 1 and Battalion 1 responded to a vehicle accident at the intersection of White Oak and Hebron Church Rd.

Engine 1 B-shift assisted Wake Med Air Mobile with LZ training.

Garner Fire Rescue along with Raleigh and Fairview units responded to a house fire on Crosspines Dr. Upon arrival firefighters experienced heavy fire conditions, the fire was quickly contained and units cleared the scene in aprox. 3 hrs.

Garner Fire and Rescue recently conducted a live burn training exercise on E. Garner Rd. This training allowed crews to practice their skills in live fire situations.

Engine 4 and Battalion 1 responded to a vehicle fire at the intersection of Rock Quarry and East Garner Rd.






10/14/2011(B-Shift)
Engine 3, Rescue 1, and Battalion 1 responded to a single vehicle MVC on Old Stage Rd. Upon further investigation found the driver had abandoned the vehicle before it entered the water.

Garner E-1, R-1 and Battalion 1 responded to an MVC at E. Garner Rd. and Vandora Springs road with minor injuries.

Garner Engine 3 and Rescue 1 responded to an MVA on Old Stage Rd.


10/3/2011

Steve Woodall, Tim Herman, Bud Davenport, Calvin Sauls, and Brad Pace went to Appleton Wisconsin for a final inspection on a new Engine. This Engine will go to Station 3 and the current Engine 3 will go to Station 4. The current Engine 4 will go in reserve. The new Engine should be in Garner on Monday,10/10/11.

Garner E-2 responded mutual aid with Fairview and Fuquay Fire Departments to a working mobile home fire at 2013 Obedient Ln.

Ganer E-4 and R-1 responded to a MVC at the intersection of U.S. 70 Hwy and Guy Rd. with minor injuries.

Garner E-4 responded to a utility trailer carrying bales of hay on fire at the intersection of U.S. 70 Hwy. and White Oak Rd.

Engine 3 responded to a working vehicle fire at 4710 Fayetteville Rd.

Garner E-11, R-1, Battalion 1 and Raleigh E-10 responded to a single car MVC with one subject entrapped on I 40 near exit 301.

 

 


 9/16/2011 (A-Shift)

Garner E-4, R-1 and Battalion 1 respond to a 2 vehicle MVC at I 40 East and White Oak Rd. with minor injuries.

 



9/15/2011 (B-Shift)
Garner Engine 11, Rescue 1, Batt. 1, Raleigh Engine 10, 26 responded to a 4" gas line rupture on Jones Sausage Rd. Wake County PSNC controlled the leak within a hour. No injuries.

Garner E-11 & R-1 responded to an MVC involving 3 vehicles on I-40 near exit 309.
