12/27/2011(B-Shift)

Engine 2, Rescue 2, and Battalion 1, and Wake EMS 16 responded to a single vehicle mvc overturned subject trapped on Hwy 42. Subject was extricated and had no injuries.



12/21/2011(C-Shift)
Garner Fire Rescue and Eastern Wake Fire Department responded to an overturned vehicle accident at the intersection of Auburn Knightdale and Rock Quarry Rd. Engine 4 arrived first and found one subject to be trapped inside the vehicle. Units stabalized the vehicle, cut the roof, and removed the victim. The victim was transported to the hospital and crews cleared the scene shortly after.

Working fire confined to one unit in an apartment complex. Garner E-3, E-1, L-1, R-1, Batt.1, Batt.2, Car 1, Raleigh E-2, Wake County EMS handled the call.



12/3/2011 (C-Shift)
Working apartment fire in Bryan Woods Apartments. Heavy fire showing on 1st and 2nd floor on arrival, reports of victims trapped on both floors, additional units called after reporting the working fire. After a multi- company meal with our neighbors, Garner E-1, E-3, E-4, E-2, R-1, Battalion 1 and Raleigh E-10 and Ladder 8 enjoyed a some mutual aid training on new water supply procedures and the Oasis Valve.





11/29/2011 (C-Shift)

Garner Fire and Rescue along with Garner High School Athletics participated in joint training. Crews trained on care for injured football players, utilizing the GFR's UTV. Garner Fire and Rescue provides medical standby during all of Garner High School's football games. Also, we would like to congratulate the Trojans on a successful season and wish them best of luck in the state championship game this Saturday.

Garner Fire-Rescue played host to the first annual GFR softball tournament. Public Safety teams from all over the area competed. Garner Fire-Rescue finished undefeated on the day, beating Nash County Fire-Rescue in the championship game 19-4. Garner Fire-Rescue's Brian Pope won the Home Run Derby.

Garner Fire Rescue along with Raleigh and Fairview units responded to a house fire on Crosspines Dr. Upon arrival firefighters experienced heavy fire conditions, the fire was quickly contained and units cleared the scene in aprox. 3 hrs.

Steve Woodall, Tim Herman, Bud Davenport, Calvin Sauls, and Brad Pace went to Appleton Wisconsin for a final inspection on a new Engine. This Engine will go to Station 3 and the current Engine 3 will go to Station 4. The current Engine 4 will go in reserve. The new Engine should be in Garner on Monday,10/10/11.

Garner Engine 2 and Rescue 2 responded with Fuquay FD to a motor vehicle crash with one subject pinned inside the vehicle. Garner and Fuquay Fire Departments worked together and had the subject extricated quickly.

Eng 3 and R-1 responded for an MVC in front of firehouse #3. While enroute EMS 18 advised they had an overturned van with one patient trapped in the vehicle. Crews removed the windshield and assisted the patient from the vehicle.

Eng 3 responded for a vehicle fire in front of Lowes Foods at 1845 Aversboro Rd. The fire was held to the engine compartment and behind the dash.

Eng 3, Eng 5, R-1, Batt 1 and units from Fairview responded to a 25x30 detached workshop that was on fire. Upon arrival fire was already completely vented through the roof and front garage door. The homeowner's pickup truck was also on fire. Units were quickly able to get the fire under control.

Engine 1,Rescue 1 and Batt 1 & 2 responded to MVC overturned w/ Injuries at 1976 Benson Rd. Moving truck overturned. Driver had to be cut out through the windshield w/ no injuries. 2 Heavy Duty wreckers (Ivey's and McLambs) lifted and righted the truck up.

E-1, R-1 and Battalion 1 responded to a MVC on Jones Sausage Rd. at I 40 with one trauma patient transported.

Garner E-1,E-2,E-3,L-1,R-1,Batt 1 responded to a fire alarm at Rand Rd. Elementary. E-1 called a working fire upon investigation. Fire was confined to 1 room with smoke damage to the wing of origin.

Engine 1 conducted fire prevention at My Goal My Mission.


Engine 1 and Rescue 1 responded to a single vehicle collision on Jones Sausage Rd. with one patient injured.

Garner E-1, E-4, R-1, L-1 and Battalion 1 responded to a structure fire at 425 Loop Rd. Fumes from a gas tank under repair were iginited causing minimal damage to the structure and one subject treated for burns.

Engine 1 and Car 3 responded to a tree down on power lines at 206 Griffin St. Street was closed to traffic for several hours until Garner Public works cleared tree from road.

Engine 3 and Battalion 1 responded to a utility pole fire near the intersection of Mechanical Blvd. and Highway 70. The pole caught fire and caused a small brush fire to ignite around the pole.

E-3, E-1, R-1, Raleigh E-2 and Car 3 responded to a house fire at 3900 Vesta Dr. Eng 3 made entry on the C side while Ral Eng 2 searched the house for extension. The fire was held to the garage with no extension.





6/11/2011

Garner Fire Rescue conducted a live burn training exercise at a house off of Garner Rd. This training allowed firefighters to train in a live fire situation and to practice live fire attack. Fire crews were rotated in teams through the structure, throughout the day. The training lasted approximately eight hours. Thanks to all firefighters and families that participated.

Garner Fire units, State Highway Patrol, Garner Police, Wake EMS, Wake Sheriff's Office and Emergency Management responded to a land search call. Crews searched for an elderly male who went missing from a local nursing facility. Crews searched for aprox.

3 hours. The man was found in a field off of Benson Road deceased.

Engines 1, 3, 4, Rescue 1 and Car 3 responded to multiple woods fires along the railroad tracks on Garner Rd. early Friday morning. The fires were caused by a passing train's locamotive. Garner fireighters had the fires under control in aproximately 2 hours.

Garner Fire Rescue Engines 4, 1, 5 , Rescue 1,Tanker 7, Cars 2, 3 and Eastern Wake FD responded to a house fire at 4881 Auburn Church Rd. The fire was contained to the kitchen area and one resident was treated for smoke inhalation.

Lt. Scot Camden, Lt Calvin Sauls, FF Ronnie Carroll, & FF Jimmy Franks were recongnized at the Cardiac Arrest Save Ceremony, held at the Fletcher Opera Theater on Wednesday, May 18th. They played integral parts in cardiac arrest or code saves this year.

Garner E-2 and Car 3 were dispatched to a garbage truck on fire at Hwy 50 and Ten Ten Rd. Upon arrival no fire was found, however a chemical had been released creating a possible HazMat incident requiring additional response from Garner E-1, Car-2, B-8, UTV 1 and RRT 4 response from Raleigh. Nothing immediately dangerous was found and the truck was moved to a waste yard to dump and further investigate.

Garner Fire-Rescue team "No One Left Behind" spent the night at Lake Benson Park to show support and raise money for Relay for Life. The team sold T-Shirts and BBQ Sandwiches and with the money raise at our golf tournament we were able to donate over $4,000.
 

 

4/28/2011 (B-Shift)

The Garner Fire-Rescue held a joint training event with Garner Police Department and Wake County EMS. Garner Engine 3, EMS 11, and GPD were dispatched to a medic nature unknown at 2600 Timber Dr. (vacant building). Once the units arrived they found an unstable person on the roof threatening to kill him self. This quickly turned into a PD event with the deployment of a crisis negotiation team and the GPD SRT team. The end result was a wounded victim that had to be removed from the roof by GFD. E-3, E-1, R-1, RFD E-2, Car 3 responded to an electrical problem at KFC. A receptacle on 1 of 3 warmers shorted out. Service at the restaurant was not interupted.

Garner Fire Units E-1, E-3, E-4, R-1, Car 3, Car 2, Car 1, Raleigh Hazmat SR-2, Hazmat 1, Battalion 3 and Battalion 1responded to a gas leak. A 330 gallon LP gas tank was found with broken valve on the top of the tank. Scene lasted approx. 4 hours.

Garner Engines 3, 5, 9, Tankers 7 and 12, Cars 1, 2, 3, 4, Fairview Engine 3 and Tankers 6 and 7 responded to a structure fire at 5409 Old Stage Rd. that also sparked a woods fire in a block of woods adjacent to the structure adding Brush 8, 6 and UTV 2 to the response.

Garner Engine 1 and Rescue 1 responded to a mvc with wires down behind 1340 W. Garner Road.  Single vehicle struck a power pole no one was injured.

Garner Fire Rescue Engine 1, 4, 3, 5, 9, Tanker 12, Rescue 1, and C-3 responded to a reported house fire, found a chimney fire which was extinguished.

 


1/13/2011 (C Shift)

Garner Fire Rescue responded to a house fire at 1201 Bobbit Dr. E-1, E-3, E-4, R-1, C-3, C-2, and Raleigh E-2. Engine 1 found a fire in a bedroom, which was quickly extinguished.

Garner Engine 1, 3, Rescue 1, Car 3, and Raleigh Engine 10 responded to a reported house fire at 410 Butler Dr. Found a problem with the heating system.

 

 

 


12/31/2010 (C Shift)

Garner Fire-Rescue ends this year with a working house fire on Buckhorn Rd. Garner Engine 3,Engine1,Engine 2, Rescue 1, Car 3,Car 2, Raleigh Engine 2, Wake County EMS, and WC-1 responded to this incident. The fire started outside the garage in a trash can. The Red Cross also responded to assist the one occupant. Thanks to Lee Wilson for taking the photos.
