Fire Academy 3
Garner Fire/Rescue hired 13 new firefighters to fill positions created by the opening of a new sub-station. Four of them were qualified to go on shift and the other nine were sent to the Wake County Public Safety Training Center to receive training. At the Wake County Academy the recruits will become Emergency Medical Technicians, NC Level II Firefighters, and Rescue Technicians. They will also receive training in Incident Command Systems, Hazardous Material Operations, and Bloodborne Pathogens. This is a 24 week Academy that includes daily physical fitness before training starts.
